Once your little one starts crawling around, it is time to baby proof. What should you do to baby proof your home?

   1.  Install child locks on kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, and toilet seat covers. To encourage creative play, make one of your kitchen cabinets full of plastic containers accessible for play to him. Make the rest of the cabinets off limits by locking them. Be sure chemicals and medications are locked up in your cabinets out of access to the baby.    2. If you are passionate about your breakables, put them out of reach of the child. If you are saying “No” to your child constantly to get him away from your breakables, it discourages curiosity and exploration. It is better to put breakables out of his reach.

   3. Electric socket covers. It is important to cover every electric socket that is not being used with these covers.

   4. Child safety gates. If you have stairs or a room that is off limits to your baby, install a child safety gate to seal off access.

   5. Cover any sharp corners on tables with a soft material or foam and duct tape. Better yet, temporarily relocate your coffee table when he starts crawling. This gives him more room to roam and limits injuries from his head hitting the table when he crawls, cruises, and eventually falls. You can put the coffee table back once he gets the hang of walking.

   6. Bath safety. You can purchase some faucet covers and non-slip mats when you start bathing your toddler in the family bathtub.
